Vitamin A is really important to the health of eyes. It is called retinol too. It takes part in some metabolic process, and plays a vital role in vision development. Vitamin A could effectively allay eye dryness and night-blind. As to red eyes, it refers to the dilated blood vessels in eyes. Normally blood vessels are invisible, but once eyes are irritated, the capillaries would get dilated and visible, so eyes are red. There are many possibilities causing red eyes. If it is caused by eye dryness, vitamin A could definitely help you. Drink more water and have a light diet. If the air is too dry, for example you need to sit in the office with air conditioning, you can use a humidifier to moisten the air. Apply warm compress if possible to help produce tear film to lubricate eyes.

When the blood vessels in your eyes have changes, your eye may look red or bloodshot, which may occur in one or both eyes. It might be a sign of medical emergency and maybe it is painless. If you have a red eye, you need to check out why first. there are generally ten causes of red eye: Pink Eye, Blepharitis, Uveitis, Dry Eye, Frequnt Use of Eye Drops, Contat Lens Wear, Injury, Corneal Ulcer or Infection, Subconjunctival Hemorrhage and Acute Angle-Closure Glaucoma. And the treatment of red eye depends on the cause. As far as i know, vitamin A may not work for people with red eyes. So if you find yourself have a red eye, you may try artificial tears, cold compresses, Antihistamine and Vasoconstrictors. But if it is urgent, you should go to the doctor immediately.
