  • Why should I leave my contacts out before an eye exam?

I am going to make an appointment for an eye exam but the doctor said I should leave contacts out for 24hrs before the exam. Can anybody tell me why?

It is possibly because the doctor need to exam the real condition of your eyes without contacts. The purpose of stopping wearing contacts is to make the corneal epithelial cells go back to normal especially for the defect cells. And it usually takes 24 to 48 hours. Make sure the exam result is accurate. So it is better for you to leave the contacts for at least 24hrs.

It won't matter a lot if you wear them less or more than 24hrs.But for safe reason, follow the doctor's instruction.
