An eye exam for eyeglasses is used to detect vision problems, eye disease and general eye health issues. During the exam, the doctor will ask you to read an eye chart. Then the following tests may include Retinoscopy, Refraction, and Slit-Lamp Examination. During an eye exam for contact lenses, the doctor will evaluate the surface of your eye's cornea and use an instrument called a kerameter to measure the surface and curvature of your eye. Finally, he will measure your pupil and iris.

The doctor will ask you to read an eye chart to detect your vision in an eye exam for eyeglasses. While in an eye exam for contact lenses, the doctor will measure the curve of your eye ball so that your eye can fit in the contact lens properly, which makes extra numbers on the prescription of your contact lenses.

Eye exams for contact lenses include special tests that typically are not performed in routine eye exams for eyeglasses. The doctor will check your eyes health and assess the eye's cornea surface to make sure the contact lenses will fit properly.

There will be a contact Lens Fitting in eye exam for contacts to make sure if you are good candidate for wearing contacts. They will check if there is any eye disease such as dry eyes, keratitis and so on. Also they will measure your base curve to find the right size of contact lenses for you.
