Generally speaking, track runners wear sunglasses for the sake of protecting their eyes and of well performance in the games. Because the track competitions are usually held in the outdoors and there are many strong ultraviolet rays in the sunshine as well as many annoying reflection rays and refraction rays. The ultraviolet rays can damage the crystalline lenses and cause cataracts. And the reflection and refraction lights can distract the attention of the track runners in the competition. Therefore, track runners wear sunglasses to screen off the ultraviolet rays and reflection and refraction rays.

Well, in my opinion, it is kind of normal and necessary for track runners to wear sunglasses. And by wearing a pair of sunglasses, it will just decrease the risk of getting hurt by the strong sunlight. And in that way, it will just make sure the well performance in the games. What is more, there are many strong ultraviolet rays in the sunshine as well as many annoying reflection rays and refraction rays. And you may know that the uv rays can be very harmful for your eyes, and in many cases, it will just do damage into your eyes, leading to further eye problems in your eyes, such as cataracts. So wearing sunglasses can just protect the eyes from these harmful rays.
