Can photochromic sunglasses be harmful to your eyes?

Many people say it is good and convenient to wear photochromic sunglasses,but I wonder if the material in them can be harmful to our eyes.

The photochromic sunglasses will weaken the visible light. Then your pupil will expand and more UV rays will get into your eyes. So your eyes will be damaged if they are exposed to excessive UV rays.

The material in photochromic lens is silver halides and it is harmless to your eyes. But it is not recommended to wear them too long. Your eyes may get tired as the pupil has to change as the lens color change.
