  • Will increasing amount of prism help with double vision?

Recently, my eye doctor would like to correct my double vision with prism eyeglasses. However,I am wondering whether it can increase the prism strength in my glasses as the strength in my prism now isn't really working?

t might be but the only way to determine this is to see your optometrist. Temporary 'stick on' prisms are available if it is particularly strong but they degrade your vision slightly.

Regarding to your problem, firstly, you need to make sure that the causes of your double vision. If you really need prism to help with your double vision, then you can go to your eye doctor's to seek advise. Because one diopter of prism is equal to the prism required to divert a ray of light 1 cm from its original path, measured at a distance of 1 m from the prism. As important as the amount of prism, is the direction of prism. The prism must displace viewed objects in the proper direction to achieve the desired visual correction. Prism direction can be specified in two ways, either using the prescriber's method or the 360 method. So you'd better to ask for advice from your eye doctor.
