Can I wear half rimless glasses if I have strong prescription?

I have -8.00 in both eyes, Can I wear half rimless glasses? Would it be too thick if I choose 1.60 index lens?

Of course you can. But it may be thicker if you choose 1.60 index lens and half rimless cannot hide the edge of the lens. So I think you can choose 1.67 index lens with the edges polished.
