  • How to Clean Yellowed Nose Pads on Old Prescription Glasses?

I have an old pair of prescription glasses for more than 5 years and the nose pads are already yellowed. Is there anyway to clean it?

Once the nose pads have turned yellow, it is permanent and cannot be cleaned. In this case, you take your old prescription glasses to any optical store and ask them to replace the nose pads for you. There are may different kinds of nose pads for you to choose. You can pick out one that is similar to your old ones so that they can match your old prescription glasses. Or you just get a new pair of prescription glasses.

As we know, nose pad are made out of clear plastic. The always contact with our skin and often sweats. That is the reason why the turn yellow. I heard that it will be permanent once the nose pad turned yellow. But there are ways to clean the green gunk and grime under the nose pad. For example, you can choose a pre moistened alcohol pad. Just shove the alcohol pad between the nose pad and the frame, and let the alcohol leak onto the nose pads. Then, rinse it off with water.
