  • How does diabetes cause vision problems?

My uncle gets diabetes last year. Now he has some vision problems. He told me that the doctor tell him that diabetes can cause vision problems. I want to know how diabetes causes vision problems and how to prevent this from happening.

As to your uncle, the way to help with his eyesight is to maintain his blood sugar. The normal people will have 70-130 milligrams per deciliter or mg/dL. After having meal, the blood sugar will be less than 180 mg/dL one to two hours later. Your uncle should visit the eye doctor for regular exams. High blood sugar may increases the risk of eye problems.

While I think your uncle's vision problem is just a temporary problem that is caused by high blood sugar levels. I think he can solve this kind of eye problem. He can get his blood sugar back to the target range. Usually it will take three months for his vision to get back to the normal standard. So don't need to buy the glasses.
